MUNNCH Interviews The 4:20 Kids himself, Activist, Entrepreneur, Educator, and Speaker Steve DeAngelo at the Las Vegas Marijuana Business Daily Conference.

Here is a little bit about Steve DeAngelo:

Steve’s activist education started early. He was raised by two civil rights advocates in Washington, D.C., and India, where his father worked for the Peace Corps in the late 1960s. After the start of the Vietnam War, Steve became struck by images of bombs destroying villages much like the ones he’d seen in India. By the time he was in seventh grade, he’d organized a massive anti-war demonstration in his school’s gymnasium. He began skipping class to attend more protests, and he dropped out of school entirely at age 16 to join the Yippie movement. It was with the Yippies that Steve became the key organizer of the famous July 4 smoke-ins in front of the White House.

Here is a little bit about Harborside Health Center:

Harborside was the first dispensary anywhere to laboratory test cannabis. After being denied service by every commercial lab in the Bay Area, Executive Director Steve DeAngelo co-founded Steep Hill Laboratory, the first lab dedicated exclusively to cannabinoid analysis. Today, Steep Hill tests cannabis for dozens of dispensaries, and is the leading innovator in the field.

Harborside testing includes both safety screening and potency analysis. Medicine that fails to pass safety screening is returned to the grower, and never provided to patients. Potency analysis measures the percentage of THC, CBD, and CBN. Summarized test results are displayed in our sample cases, and full test results are available upon request from a patient service associate.

The testing program has two main components: safety screening and potency quantification. Safety screening analyzes and detects contamination of pathogenic molds, which can threaten the health of patients with compromised immune systems. Potency quantification provides the percentages of three major cannabinoids: THC, CBD and CBN. Later stages of the program will include the use of patient surveys to develop a comprehensive database of the efficacy of medical cannabis.

Harborside Health Center patients are able to access the testing results in three ways: labels in display cases, labels on products, and a book of complete test results. Labels include percentages for THC, CBD and CBN; and are posted in medicine display cases, as well as affixed to the products themselves. A book containing complete spectrometry reports for each product is available at the service counter for those patients who desire more detailed analytical results. Testing services commenced with an initial launch period to identify and develop the logistics of sample collection and result identification.
