DOUBLE SPRINGS, Ala. (AP) — Two former Winston County deputies say Sheriff Hobby Walker fired them after they refused to give him marijuana from the evidence room last year.

Media outlets report that former deputies Zak Green and Steven Moody filed a wrongful termination lawsuit Jan. 13 against Walker and the county, saying Walker asked them multiple times to obtain marijuana for his cancer-stricken aunt.

The plaintiffs said they contacted authorities last year when Walker started making the requests in May. The plaintiffs say they made an audio recording of Walker asking for the drugs in August.

Green and Moody also say they recorded video of themselves giving confiscated marijuana to Walker in September. The plaintiffs were fired in November.

No charges have been filed against Walker, who has declined to comment on the lawsuit.
