ACNA – Nurse Heather
MUNNCH interviews Nurse Heather outside of the Marijuana Business Convention in Las Vegas. Here is a little bit about Nurse Heather:
Heather is a native New Mexican and Registered Nurse specializing in all aspects of medical cannabis care. She is currently a board member of the American Cannabis Nurses Association, serving as Chairwoman for the ACNA conference committee. She also holds a certificate of completion for The Core Curriculum for Cannabis Nursing. Nurse Heather has shared her knowledge and assistance regarding cannabinoid therapies in Colorado, Massachusetts, California, Nevada and Arizona. She was honored to be a presenter and panelist for multiple conferences in 2013 and 2014. Her deep understanding, unique perspectives and professional delivery make learning, a positive and enriching experience. In addition to educating, advising, and speaking; under Nurse Heather’s direction, the Arizona Cannabis Nurses Association was successful in petitioning and appealing for the inclusion of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) as a recognized debilitating condition under Arizona’s medical marijuana act.
Heather began her career as a Registered Nurse by providing home health care services to patients in the Four Corners area of New Mexico, and acquired additional training and experience as a psychiatric nurse. Nurse Heather now enjoys being an occasional guest lecturer on medical cannabis for psychology students who study Drugs, Brain, and Behaviors. Her current position as a Cannabis Nurse Educator, speaker, and writer, requires Nurse Heather to stay up to date with all aspects of cannabinoid medicine; including standards, laws, research, trends, patient care and services.
In New Mexico & Arizona, she was among the first to create and provide medical cannabis patients with smokeless alternatives for cannabis use. Heather has extensive background in natural healing modalities and herbal remedies, some of which she obtained from her close association with Hispanics and Native Americans in New Mexico. As a practicing nurse, she has worked personally with hundreds, and has helped to create & provide quality medicine for thousands of medical cannabis patients in New Mexico and Arizona.
Nurse Heather believes that the secret ingredient for all cannabis products is an abundance of “Love andCompassion.”
